Verdi’s monumental masterpiece will be performed by Sønderjyllands Symfoniorkester, Filharmonisk Kor and Det Fynske Kammerkor.

This is our popular Christmas concert in Odense. Alice Granum will conduct the concert.

The choir will sing well-known and beloved Christmas songs and hymns and also more complex music fit for the season.

Buy the cheapest tickets at Billetto – any remaning tickets at the entrance.

OBS:
Please have your coronapas (Covid-19 certificate) ready at the entrance!
Please also order a ticket for children, although it is free (kids less than 12 years old), in order for us to keep track on the number of guests.

The choir will sing well-known and beloved Christmas songs and hymns and also more complex music fit for the season. One example is Michael Praetorius’ festive Christmas motet Resonet in laudibus for 6 voices (from 1611). Praetorius applies a melody which in Denmark is known as Lad det klinge højt i sky.

Faure’s Requiem in Munkebjerg Kirke

The main work of the programme is Requiem for choir, soloists and organ by the French composer Gabriel Fauré. Conductor is Alice Granum, and the organ part is played by church organist Michael Lyngvig Thomsen. Soloists are Linnea Andersson (soprano) and Asmus Hanke Frederiksen (baritone).

As an introduction, César Francks Choral no. 1 i E major is played. Free entrance.

Concert in Nazarethkirken

Nazarethkirken (Ryslinge, Central Funen), Tuesday 6 October, 8 pm

The current pandemic has of course been considered during the planning of this concert. The women of the choir will sing at the beginning of the concert, and the men towards the end. The middle part is sung by 2 smaller choirs, one at a time. The full choir does not appear at the same time, however they will sing a bit outside the church, after the concert.

The programme consists of Nordic pieces, German motets, French prayers and Danish choral autumn songs. The choir is conducted by Alice Granum.

Northern Choir Conducting Competition 2020cancelled

Participation in the choir festival SYNG SYDFYN (“Singing Fionia”), in connection with a competition for young choir conductors.

Concert in Ansgars Kirke

Ansgars Kirke (Odense), Thursday 16 May 2019, 7.30 pm

This concert is shared with the girl choir Cantus from Torshavn Music Scool at the Faroe Islands.

The choir, which has been active for some years, has gradually built up a varied repertoire, consisting of a wide selection of Faroese songs as well as Nordic and English songs. During their visit on Funen, Cantus also visits Musikskolens Kor in Svendborg and will join them for concerts in Svendborg and Horne (South Funen).

The Fionian Chamber Choir will sing a Nordic programme, among others two Faroese songs, Danish songs and some pieces by Ola Gjeilo.

Alice Granum conducts The Fionian Chamber Choir, while Cantus is conducted by school and music teacher Joanna Johansen and music teacher Kári Bæk.

Durufle’s Requiem in Hjallese Kirke

The main work of the programme at this concert is Requiem for choir, soloists, cello and organ by the French composer Maurice Duruflé. Also, a choral work by the Norwegian/American composer Ola Gjeilo is being sung.

Alice Granum conducts The Fionian Chamber Choir & Vor Frue Kantori (Svendborg), and the very demanding organ part is played by Tina Christiansen, who is organist in Ansgars Kirke in Odense.

Soloists are Emma Oemann (mezzosoprano) and Rasmus Tofte Hansen (baritone).
